Deutsche Bank says it plans to launch a digital-asset custody service this year for institutional and corporate clients in Europe.

The initial range is expected to include Bitcoin, Ether and selected stablecoins or e-money tokens, including USDC, EURC and EURAU. The bank says tokenized financial instruments are also on its roadmap.

Custody moves into established banking controls

The proposed service would place wallet and private-key management inside the bank's governance framework. Deutsche Bank describes controls including hardware-based protection, segregation of duties, multi-person approvals, separate warm and cold storage and controlled backup procedures.

That can reduce the infrastructure burden for eligible clients, but it also concentrates operational responsibility in the custodian and its selected technology providers.

An announced launch is still conditional

The bank explicitly says the service remains subject to completion of the applicable regulatory process. Timing, geographic availability, assets and scope may change because of regulatory requirements, internal approvals, market developments or demand.

The announcement is therefore evidence of institutional preparation—not confirmation that the service is already live or that client assets have been onboarded.
