Solana Tests Alpenglow’s 150-Millisecond Finality Target
Solana has moved Alpenglow onto public testnet with a target of reducing finality from roughly 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds.

What happened
Alpenglow entered public testnet with Votor designed to replace TowerBFT and target finality near 150 milliseconds, compared with roughly 12.8 seconds under the current system.
Blue Rogues read
If the design performs under realistic conditions, faster deterministic finality could improve payment and trading workflows. The relevant evidence is sustained test performance and safe client interoperability, not the target alone.
What this confirms
The public testnet begins measurable validation of Alpenglow's design and its latency objective.
What it does not confirm
This is not a mainnet launch. The initial migration requires Agave 4.3 and excludes Firedancer and Frankendancer; September 28 remains tentative rather than a guaranteed Alpenglow activation date.
