Zcash Targets November 5 for NU7
Zcash engineering teams agreed on a target that would reduce block spacing from 75 seconds to 25 seconds while preserving the existing issuance and halving schedule.

The planned change would make blocks arrive three times as frequently, with protocol parameters adjusted so that the monetary schedule does not accelerate with the faster cadence.
A target, not a guaranteed activation
November 5 remains conditional on testnet results. The published timeline includes a final activation decision scheduled for October 20, leaving room to delay if testing exposes unresolved risk.
That governance boundary matters: a proposed activation date is not equivalent to completed deployment.
What to watch
The next evidence is testnet stability, implementation readiness and the final October decision. After activation, observed block production and network reliability will matter more than the target alone.
